No two termite situations are the same. The treatment we recommend after your inspection depends on the species present, the extent of activity, your construction type and which options are physically practicable at your property.
Termidor is a non repellent termiticide. Termites cannot detect it in the soil, so rather than avoiding treated zones they pass straight through, pick up the product on their bodies and carry it back to the colony. This is the Transfer Effect. The colony is eliminated from within, not just at the point of contact.
Installing a Termidor barrier involves drilling around the full perimeter of the structure at 300mm intervals and pumping the product into the soil. Every drill hole is sealed once the application is complete. When applied to label specifications, Termidor provides 8 years protection.
Bait stations are installed in the ground at regular intervals around the property perimeter. When termites find the bait, they consume it and carry it back to the colony. The active ingredient disrupts the termites' ability to moult, which gradually collapses the colony over time.
Baiting takes longer than a chemical barrier to achieve colony elimination, typically several months depending on colony size and how quickly termites locate the stations. It is often the most practical option when a full chemical barrier is not possible, for example when all floors are tiled throughout and drilling is unacceptable, or for heritage buildings where chemical application is restricted.
Bait stations require regular monitoring visits. On each visit we inspect every station, replace consumed bait, and document activity levels. This ongoing monitoring is what allows us to confirm the system is working and catch any new activity early.
Baiting is not the right choice for every property. We will tell you honestly whether a chemical barrier or a baiting system is the better fit for your situation before any work begins.
Targeted treatments are used when termites are actively infesting a specific, identifiable area: a wall cavity, subfloor bearer, window frame or similar. Foam or dust insecticides are injected directly into the gallery where activity is confirmed.
A targeted treatment is not a standalone long term solution. It is used to address an active infestation quickly and reduce ongoing structural damage while a more permanent treatment, such as a chemical barrier or baiting program, is being arranged and installed.
Termites work silently. When activity is found during an inspection, there is often no visible external sign of the damage already occurring inside the timber. The longer treatment is delayed after active termites are identified, the more structural timber is at risk.
The treatment options available to you also depend on the extent of activity at the time of treatment. An infestation caught early, while activity is confined to a small isolated area, is considerably less complex and less expensive to address than one that has spread through multiple wall frames or subfloor bearers.
If activity was found in your inspection, arrange treatment as soon as practically possible. We provide quotes typically within 24 hours of the inspection report and schedule treatment quickly once confirmed.
Do not disturb them. Knocking on walls, spraying with household products or opening the gallery will cause termites to retreat deeper into the structure and make treatment significantly more difficult. Leave the area undisturbed and call us directly.
